About Us

The mission of Teen Leaders of America (TLA) is to empower youth to face the challenges of the 21st century by providing students with the life and leadership skills necessary to get into college and select rewarding careers. Programs include Youth Leadership, Socio-Emotional Skills, College Readiness and Workforce Development for grades 6 thru 12.

TLA is supported by Kids Hope Alliance (KHA), a City of Jacksonville Agency; and is open to any youth with a desire to succeed regardless of race, gender or economic status!

Virtual Learning Center

Academic support, Mentoring, Leadership and Social activities for youth in virtual/home school.

Summer leadership programs at school sites incorporating social activities and community service

Summer II

Summer leaderhip programs at community sites incorporating social activities and community service.

Teen Club

Students enrolled in Afterschool Community Sites will become Teen Club members.

Marcia Brown

Executive Director

Launched TLA in 2009 with a small class of 17; and today has reached over 2500 youth by creating funding partnerships with Comcast, United Way, The Florida Lottery, Kids Hope Alliance and others.

As an IT professional for over 20 years for companies such as Bank of America, Turner Broadcasting, Deutsche Bank and others, partnered with Scratchwerk Academy to implement programs increasing the number of minority youth exposed to careers in IT/STEM.

Janice Miller

Lead Teacher

Selected as Duval County's Teacher of the Year. Certified Education Professional responsible for managing TLA summer programs.

Provides educational consulting for all TLA programming.

Dr. Jerome Mosley

Education Partner

Certified Education Professional and Founder of Bridge Builders United mentoring program for African American males. Teacher and Asst. Principal for 14+ years.

Develops career mentoring and leadership curriculum for grades 6-12. Provides educational consulting and training for all TLA programming.
